In My Car

I live in a place with lots of miles, and I have to drive most of them some of the time. Yesterday I ran 200 miles north. Today, 200 miles back again.

I set the cruise control and turn on my music. The distance clicks away.

"Don't you hate it?" asked a friend not long ago.

"No," I said.

Sounds like it was a lovely day, Snag. I hope you get a lot more before winter sets in.

It's a shame you don't have a reliable and affordable train system.

To connect what to what? There are times when roads make more sense.

A me-teeny = walking to the gym + vegetarian lunch.

P.S. It does not look like I will be having one today, although I did walk to work and home for lunch as per usual.

I just had to drive for about 12h yesterday (including gas and bathroom breaks) and I detested it.

Its only advantage over flying, when you have a deadline, at least, is that it is a bit cheaper (if you factor out the cost of a car) and there are no change fees.

A few months ago I succumbed to suburbia and bought a car. It has definitely improved my life, in the sense that it is always easier to capitulate. I comfort myself with the realization that suburbia is doomed.
