I always think about the other kids. I have a dark, morose heart. Defeat snatched from victory.
How the West was won.

Pinko is banned.
Note to self: Don't ask Pinko about his Little League experience.
Also, defeat snatched from victory would be the Cubs... or the Bears... or almost any Chicago team, except for the Hawks.
so nifty.
my experiece, if the coaches are doing anything like a good job, the other team is totally appreciative of pulling off a hero move like that. Disappointed, sure, but if they didn't all want that moment of pure joy, they wouldn't be playing.
Or SHOULDN'T be playing, maybe.
of course, some of them are doing it for the deep fried bacon.
I just think about the pitcher that gave it up. I'm sorry I have more empathy than a zombie.
What is wrong with me?
Sorry to offend, Pinko. I will go away now.
It was hard on the opposing pitcher. He'd earlier hit two home runs and put his team ahead and when he gave up the grand slam, he looked heartbroken.
After the game, my kid's coach saw the pitcher talking to his own coach, who also happens to be the pitcher's dad. The pitcher was crying.
Our coach went over and told him, "Keep your head up, buddy. You're a heck of a ballplayer."
"Thanks," said the pitcher.
"Thanks," said the pitcher's dad.
Five minutes later the pitcher was eating a hot dog and chasing around with his teammates. The grand slam wasn't forgotten, but it didn't hurt so much anymore. Life goes on.

Wieners and losers...

Damn you Jennifer.
I was all sniffly at the sentiment, and you bring the corny snark.
Snag makes me feel better, in this case the pitcher was an all around player without whom the team wouldn't have been in position to win.
The best games are where both teams just execute phenomenally and their isn't a goat. I hate the Yankees, but when they lost to the Diamonbacks, you couldn't say anything about Rivera giving up a couple of infield hits.
so Pinko owns a goat now?
