If Life Gives You Lemons, Order A Drink

Ten years ago, I would not have guessed that I'd spend Wednesday evening in a small town bar with a 60-year-old farmer and his wife listening to Rick James sing "Superfreak."

No, I would not have guessed that.

Okay, you are going to write a post about the conversation, aren't you?? Also, did this 60-something couple enjoy Rick James or did they find this odd as well?

We talked corn prices, his daughter's wedding, and the time the Klan got run out of town by a local grandmother. Or I think we did; the experience was surreal enough that I may have dreamed it.

As to Rick James, I'm not sure they knew what to make of it. It was karaoke night, however, and they didn't go so far as to sing along.

Where the heck are you, Snag? Or are you undercover and can't give out your whereabouts?!?!

I'm trying to narrow down the number of places where corn and the Klan are in common.

It was karaoke night? Did you sing?

My mom got comps for the premiere of Van Wilder and loved it.

Now, mom, give me back those god-damned copies of the National Lampoon that you took when I was 13!

Also, meetings about government regulations are better when you can talk about Nordic death-metal with heavily-accented Colombians.

It still is better than AG having to listen to James Taylor-country-fied last night.

P.S. Cowboy hats and boots are so 1970.
